Plantagenet Lancaster Shiraz
Wine
Plantagenet Lancaster Shiraz is primarily sourced from vineyards in Mount Barker, with a smaller parcel from Frankland River. The grapes are harvested at night when they are at their coolest.
The fruit is destemmed, chilled and cold soaked for several days. After warming naturally, the juice is inoculated with a cultured yeast. It receives pump overs twice daily during fermentation.
The wine is then pressed to tank and racked to French oak barriques, around one third new. Here it undergoes malolactic fermentation and 18 months of maturation. Before release, the wine is blended, bottled and aged for a further six months.
Deep red purple, Plantagenet Lancaster Shiraz layers dark fruit flavours and savoury spice with seamless oak tannins and a firm, lingering finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
